To assuage concerns, Mr. Zuckerberg called a follow-up meeting with WhatsApp employees a few days later, three of the people said. On Dec. 7, employees gathered around microphones at the WhatsApp offices to ask him why he was so invested in merging the services. Some said his answers were vague and meandering. Several WhatsApp employees have left or plan to leave because of Mr. Zuckerberg’s plans, the people said.

Het grootste voordeel van WhatsApp is dat je makkelijk groepen kan maken, iets wat bij pure sms waanzin is. Niet iedereen gebruikt iMessage, dus werd het hier al snel de grootste gemene deler en wordt haast alles via WhatsApp gedaan.

De laatste tijd komt er best wel wat eng nieuws over de toekomstplannen ervan naar buiten. Facebook gebruik ik al lang niet meer actief, maar van Messenger geraak ik niet af.

Bah.

Ik ben zo zot van mijn iPad Pro omdat die het echt, echt, echt ontzettend makkelijk maakt om content te creëren. En daardoor krijg je daar ook zin in.

Exact hetzelfde: vroeger nooit het “ik ben bijna leeg”-bliepje, tegenwoordig steevast tijdens het pendelen wanneer ik in de laatste rechte lijn ben.

Voor mij mag versie 2 er ook stilaan aankomen.

Ik heb het tijdens de kerstvakantie geprobeerd en daarna terug hervallen.Na het lezen van deze blogpost toch terug Twitter van de smartphone verwijderd. Replies check ik af en toe wel eens in de browser of Tweetbot, maar al die likes en retweets, dat is echt duidelijk verslavende snoep voor mij om te checken. Tweetbot laat ik er nog op staan omdat ik het soms voor ’t werk nodig heb.

Dat laatste is ook de reden waarom ik Instagram niet kan verwijderen: zowel voor mijn job als mijn bijberoep gebruik ik dat professioneel. Er is niet zoiets als de ‘Paginabeheer’-app van Facebook, helaas. Maar, na lang nadenken, besloten om gewoon de eigen account te verwijderen. Geen backup of niks, vooral door de manier waarop de dienst zelf gebouwd is.

Shawn ging kijken in zijn iPhone statistieken:

I spend an average of 27 minutes per day on Twitter and 22 minutes on Instagram. That’s 49 minutes of social media scrolling that honestly does not add much, if anything, to my day-to-day life.

Bij mij: Instagram 31 minuten per dag, Twitter 26. (Waaronder dus ook professioneel gebruik.)
